Overview

About Oak Hammock at the University of Florida.

Oak Hammock at the University of Florida is a Life Plan Community (also called a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC) located on 136 wooded acres in Southwest Gainesville, adjacent to the UF campus. Founded with a formal University of Florida affiliation, it is the only university-based Life Plan Community in the region.

The community offers 212 independent living apartments and 57 independent living villas and homes, along with 52 assisted living units, 12 memory care units, and a 73-bed Health Pavilion for skilled nursing and rehabilitation, all on a single campus. This means residents can transition between levels of care as needs change without leaving the community or their social network.

The UF affiliation distinguishes Oak Hammock from other senior communities in meaningful ways: residents have access to the UF Institute for Learning in Retirement, UF Health’s medical network, UF sporting events, performances, and lectures. The campus also maintains its own extensive walking and biking trail network, dining venues, fitness facilities, and social programming calendar.

Why it stands out
